the space factory is based on using left-over inner-city sites.
existing categories of living and working are being blurred in favor of new and flexible space typologies. this new building type is a prototypical city module with program-neutral plans and volumes, and with minimized construction costs.
the new housing protoype can be sited anywhere within the city, and provides a response to the urban process which is always being restructured and re-invented. this prototype provides for maximal spatial flexibility while striving for the lowest possible buiding costs.
the construction is a pre-fabricated concrete system. the service area integrates the technical infrastructure and serves as vertical access. it is extremely compact and provides for the minimum standards. bathrooms, storage areas, kitchen, work- and sleep areas and internal stairs form a continuous spatial sculpture which can be configurated individually.
