the intention of the competition is to develop a conception for the future usage of the marstall building as a part of the former palace complex and its neighbourhood. the proposal defines the marstall building as an urban foyer in front of the square opposite the palace. the building keeps its solitary posiion and its monolithic character, the historical facade is not touched and dominates the square.
the functional and spatial interpretation of the building is the new roof. the usage as a multifunctional ballroom in combination with multifarious additions rises the golden structure above the corpus of the marstall, marking the contemporary function and beaming all over the city.
