one's perception of architecture and space is largely a visual perception. this has been intensified through the introduction of new media technologies in the 20. century and has lead to a continuing isolation of the human from his/ her environment. this one-directional flow of visual information dominates one's perception causing the transformation from an active to a reactive subject. parametric space deals with the dominance of visuality within the perception of space. it activates the five human senses equally and includes memory and imagination as active tools for the creation of space. parametric space aims to activate possibilities of perception and to give one full control over perception. this includes the possibility to reduce one's sensual stimulation to zero or to create new types of spaces through the combination of different activities or events. parametric space is a three dimensional concept which describes a new perspective on spatial perception and sharpens one's consciousness in order to make new connections between the human body and its surrounding space. |
